The UN Population Division estimated that the United States hosted approximately 52.375 million international migrants in 2024, the largest stock of any country, ahead of Germany at about 16.8 million.

Archive NoteThe UN Population Division's International Migrant Stock 2024 covers estimates from 1990 through 2024, drawing on censuses, registers and refugee data. It measures the number resident at a given time and should not be read as the number of new arrivals in a year or holders of a particular immigration status.
In 2024 the United States hosted an estimated 52.375 million international migrants, well ahead of Germany with 16.8 million. The same UN edition reports about 23.266 million for the United States in 1990 and 43.947 million in 2010, showing a sustained rise in migrant stock.
The report estimates some 304 million international migrants worldwide in 2024, roughly 3.7 percent of the world's population. Having the largest absolute stock does not mean having the highest migrant share of national population; those are different measures.
