Overview
Archive NoteHighway 1 follows much of Australia's coastline, linking state capitals and numerous regional towns in a cross-state transport network. It incorporates many linked road sections rather than one uniform-width carriageway.
The Pan-American Highway network extends more than 24,000 km overall but is interrupted by the approximately 110-km Darién Gap between Panama and Colombia. Its total network length is therefore a different comparison from a continuous drivable road.
