Current record value
Prague's Old-New Synagogue is a surviving early Gothic building with a two-aisle plan, ribbed vaults and central columns that reflect the city's medieval Jewish community.
Dating to about the 1270s, the synagogue continues to host worship. Services were interrupted during the Nazi occupation in 1942–1945; the record therefore concerns an ancient building that is still active, not an absolutely uninterrupted sequence of services.
The record conclusion has sufficient verification support.
Basis: direct confirmation by an authority
The Jewish Museum in Prague identifies the Old-New Synagogue as Europe's oldest extant synagogue; Prague City Tourism documents construction around the 1270s and its ongoing religious use, with an interruption during 1942–1945.
