Overview
Archive NoteThe tower stands at the northern outer pier of the entrance to Jeddah's modern port on the Red Sea. It performs traffic monitoring and coordination functions and was not primarily designed as a traditional purpose-built lighthouse.
Guinness lists a structural height of 133 m and a navigation-light focal height of 137 m above sea level; these are different measurements. MarineRadar separately lists the tower as 131.4 m tall. The reason for the discrepancy is not established, so this record retains Guinness's certified 133 m figure. The light shows three white flashes every 20 seconds.
The concrete-and-steel tower was built in 1990. This category includes both traditional and nontraditional active navigation lights. If restricted to towers built exclusively as lighthouses, Guinness identifies France's Île Vierge Lighthouse instead; the two records have different scopes.
