该片立足国际视野，记录了中国与亚洲、欧洲、非洲、南美洲、大洋洲等近三十个国家地区合作共赢、文化交流、民心相通的故事；实地拍摄了沿线国家的历史遗迹、文献文物、民俗风情，以国际化语态和呈现方式，深入诠释“‘一带一路’不是中国一家的独奏，而是沿线国家的合唱”。

在第二届“一带一路”国际合作高峰论坛即将开幕之际，由中央广播电视总台摄制的三集“一带一路”主题纪录片《共筑未来》制作完成，将于4月22日至4月24日在中央广播电视总台央视综合频道晚间黄金时段八点档播出，每日播出一集。
