Overview
Archive NoteCheetahs are adapted for short bursts of speed through long limbs, a flexible spine and a tail that aids manoeuvring. Their sprint performance cannot be sustained over long distances.
Craig Sharp of Brunel University measured a roughly 35 kg adult female cheetah in 1965, reporting a speed based on three runs over about 201.2 metres.
