Current record value
The Green Bank Telescope achieved first light on 23 August 2000. Its offset optical design keeps the feed structure out of the main collecting aperture.
The whole reflector rotates through 360 degrees in azimuth and elevates approximately 5 to 95 degrees. This is a distinct engineering category from China's larger, fixed FAST dish.
The record conclusion has sufficient verification support.
Basis: direct confirmation by an authority
Original Guinness record entry explicitly supports the world-leading holder under a separate comparison category.
Current Entry identifies the current entry in this archive; it does not establish that the record is still held today.
The record value on this page is organized from the public sources above. Measurement methods may differ; JiLuDB follows the unified method described for each entry.
