Overview
Archive NoteThe Makkah Royal Clock Tower stands in the Abraj Al Bait complex near the Grand Mosque, with giant clock dials high above the city. The 43-metre value measures the dial itself, rather than the tower's height of more than 600 metres.
Guinness lists the date 28 November 2011 and describes the dial as about six times the diameter of a face on London's Elizabeth Tower. Clock-face size and tallest-clock-tower height are separate technical records.
The tower stands approximately 601 metres tall, with construction completed in 2012. The dial's record date is not interchangeable with the completion date of the overall building.
