Overview
Archive NoteNagoya City Science Museum opened its renovated planetarium in 2011, integrating an immersive dome with an optical star projector and digital panoramic imaging systems.
Guinness specifies a 35.02-metre dome internal diameter and a 39.2-metre-high spherical building exterior. Around 700 joined panels form the dome, which seats 350 visitors. The internal diameter is not interchangeable with the building height.
The Guinness measurement used a Leica HDS3000 terrestrial laser scanner and 674,941 collected data points. The new planetarium opened on 19 March 2011; the earlier institution's 1962 establishment is not the achievement date of this dome record.
