Overview

Archive Note

The bridge crosses Lake Washington between Seattle and the Bellevue area. Water depth and soft sediments make traditional foundation-supported spans difficult here.

The new structure uses 77 pontoons secured with anchor systems and was constructed from 2012 to 2016. Washington State DOT notes that its predecessor had held the same record before replacement.
