Overview
Archive NoteGreat Basin bristlecone pines in California's White Mountains grow slowly, and their rings offer a long tree-ring chronology. This specimen is an unnamed individual distinct from the famous Methuselah tree.
Edmund Schulman originally sampled the specimen, and Tom Harlan later crossdated the tree, with the older living specimen confirmed in 2009. Its precise location is withheld to protect it, so only the California region is associated with the record.
