Overview
Archive NoteManufacturing value added measures output less intermediate consumption within manufacturing. It is not factory sales, gross industrial output, or the combined total for construction, mining and utilities.
Using the World Bank's current-US-dollar series, China's manufacturing value added was about US$4.82 trillion in 2025. Cross-country comparisons of this figure depend partly on exchange rates and revisions to national accounts.
The 2025 figure describes the reference year's production, not when China first became the largest manufacturer. Future yearly observations belong to the same record topic rather than new year-specific records.
