Overview
Archive NoteThe Hour Record measures distance achieved in a fixed 60-minute interval rather than the time taken to ride a fixed distance. UCI regulations governing equipment, track conditions and attempts provide the framework for the recognised record.
Ganna's attempt took place at the Tissot Velodrome in Grenchen. It surpassed the 55.548 kilometres achieved by Great Britain's Dan Bigham at the same venue in August 2022.
Ganna brought experience from both track pursuit and road time trialling to the attempt. The UCI's official progression of successful attempts identifies his October 2022 ride as the men's record.
