Overview
Archive NoteDos Santos set the mark at the 2026 Weltklasse Zürich Diamond League meeting. World Athletics' original event report confirms 45.80 seconds in the men's 400m hurdles, overtaking the world record established at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Karsten Warholm's 45.94 seconds, run in Tokyo on 3 August 2021, was the previous world record and is now a historical performance. Warholm finished second in Zürich in 46.69 seconds; Dos Santos improved the record by 0.14 seconds.
This category covers electronically timed senior men's outdoor 400m hurdles on a standard track, not the flat 400 metres or an indoor event. The new record was achieved at Letzigrund stadium in Switzerland, not at the former record venue in Tokyo.
