Overview
Archive NoteThe crab-shaped robot is about 0.5 millimeters wide, smaller than a flea.
It uses shape-memory alloy and a thin glass coating, with a scanned laser providing localized heating for actuation and directional control.
The related research was published in Science Robotics and describes submillimeter-scale multimaterial terrestrial robots.
