Overview

Archive Note

The stack was completed in December 1918 for the Anaconda Copper Mining Company and began service in 1919. Its brick shaft is about 26.2 metres wide at the base.

The smelter shut in 1980, and most related facilities were demolished during hazardous-waste remediation. The stack survives as an industrial landmark under state-park protection. The park visitor coordinates must not be mistaken for the stack's exact location.
