Archive NoteHyperion was discovered by Chris Atkins and Michael Taylor on 25 August 2006, and its precise location is kept secret to prevent visitor damage to the tree.
Its first measurement in 2006 was 115.55 m; by 2019 it had grown to 116.07 m.
The tree has a diameter of 4.94 m, an estimated aboveground dry mass of 209 metric tonnes and an estimated age of 600-800 years.
