World's Longest Road Tunnel
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration states that the Lærdal Tunnel, opened in November 2000, is 24,509 metres long and is the world's longest road tunnel.

Archive NoteThe Lærdal Tunnel links the municipalities of Aurland and Lærdal in Vestland county, Norway, and forms part of European route E16.
Construction began in 1995 and the tunnel opened in November 2000; three large rock caverns inside the tunnel provide stopping and turning areas to ease driver fatigue.
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration has upgraded national road tunnels since 2015; its upgrade of the Lærdal Tunnel is scheduled to start in autumn 2026 and to be completed in 2030/31.
