Overview
Archive NoteThe women's 3000 m steeplechase combines distance running with repeated clearances of barriers and a water jump. Its record is measured by elapsed time on an eligible outdoor track, not by the flat 3000 m event.
At the Monaco Diamond League meeting in 2018, Chepkoech clocked 8:44.32, improving on Ruth Jebet's 8:52.78 record from Paris in 2016 by 8.46 seconds.
Winfred Yavi later ran 8:44.39 in Rome in 2024, only 0.07 seconds slower than Chepkoech's mark. World Athletics' all-time list continues to rank the Monaco performance first.
