First Human on the Moon

Archive NoteThe Apollo 11 lunar module Eagle landed in the Sea of Tranquility at 4:17 p.m. EDT on 20 July 1969 with about 30 seconds of propellant remaining; at 10:56 p.m. EDT Armstrong stepped onto the lunar surface.
Buzz Aldrin followed him out of the lunar module and the two spent about two and a half hours on the surface collecting samples.
Command module pilot Michael Collins remained in lunar orbit aboard Columbia.
