Overview
Archive NoteThe Cullinan Diamond was discovered at the Premier Mine near Pretoria, South Africa. The mine was subsequently renamed the Cullinan Mine.
It was later cut into numerous diamonds, including Cullinan I, which was mounted in the British Sovereign's Sceptre. The mass of the cut stones should not be confused with that of the original rough crystal.
The Guinness record page and mine history give the rough weight as approximately 3,106 carats, while a 2023 Guinness historical feature gives 3,106.75 carats. These are rounded and more precise presentations of the same stone's weight. This entry retains the rounded headline value without representing it as an exact measurement.
