Overview
Archive NoteRoc uses two slender fuselages connected by a vast wing. Designed originally to release space-launch payloads at altitude, the aircraft subsequently became an airborne launch platform for hypersonic test vehicles.
Operator Stratolaunch gives its span as 385 feet and confirms six engines. Wingspan should not be conflated with fuselage length, takeoff weight, or payload capability.
On 13 April 2019, Roc took off from Mojave Air and Space Port, California, for its first test flight lasting about two and a half hours. This date marks a flight-qualified aircraft rather than an initial design announcement.
